A Letter of Thanks.
Dear body, dear friend, dear vessel of life. It was not always that I could look on you with such awe and gratitude. You once were just a body, not loved, not hated, just occupied. But in the past five years, you have shown me you are many things. You are a temple to be worshiped at by my husband, a source of loss and grief for to our family for those pregnancies that did not make it, a champion and tribute to perseverance and, above all else, the giver of life to my two perfect sons.
I forgive you your shortcomings, your surrender to gravity, your remarkable lack of elasticity and the fact that you leak. I forgive you for failing me at times, but I applaud you and thank you for being strong when it has mattered most.
I thank you.
