Well, not for us at least. Back in May we decided to give homeschooling an "official" try. For the summer. Kind of expecting to hate it and end up enrolling the kids in public school again by Fall. But amazingly that did not happen, in fact quite the opposite has occurred. We love the freedom. (LOVE, LOVE LOVE). The freedom to choose what to learn, how to learn, where to learn, when to learn, and when to just scrap school for the day (or week!) and be complete lazy bums.
The boys have absolutely excelled in their curriculum and the house is happier and calmer without the daily intrusions of school pick-up during nap time and homework when all we really want to be doing is playing outdoors. I'm not going to lie and tell you every day is perfect. It's not. It's SO. NOT. But what it is, is better.
Casey asked me yesterday if he could please do school at home allllllll the way until he was ready for college. And I told him I'm just not interested in making that kind of commitment. How about we re-evaluate in December? (Seriously, I have no idea how I ended up married at twenty-three years old).
I refuse to say that this is it. This is how we are doing things from now on, forever and ever, amen. Because I don't know what's around the next corner. But at this point in our lives it's working. And it's working well. So all I can do is embrace where we are with our journey and do everything in my power to provide my kids with the best life experiences possible.
Today that means homeschooling. Maybe it will be military school when they're teens.
Kidding.
(ish).
