I'm Just Not Ready For My Close Up. Thanks Anyway, Mr. DeMille.

Fourth of July
We moved out of our house and put it on the market a few weeks ago. It was totally a wing and a prayer style thing.  We were just completely done with being in limbo, so we took the bull by the horns and got out of dodge.  Sort of.  Now we're bunking at my parents' furnished, but only occasionally occupied house down the street and I'm living in constant terror that the kids will break, touch and/or breath on something important.  It's awesome like that, but I guess it's better than trying to sell our house with the kids and me, and my dog, and my work-from-home husband hanging around.  Cause you know, a messy house full of half dressed people just screams BUY ME!!!  Am I right?

But then the house we were hoping to get fell through because all the wiring was bad.  And also the plumbing.  And the sellers decided that we should foot those bills. BWAHAHAHA.  No, thank you.  I moped around for a day or so, and then went on a house hunting rampage.  And wouldn't you know, I found the same house around the block.  Granted it's not updated.  In fact, it's in 1972 vintage mint condition. (Avocado green in the house, yo).  But it was a whole lot less money.  So, you know.  Wing and a prayer.

In the mean time we have a contract on our old house.  Fingers CROSSED.  We find out on Thursday if the inspections went smoothly.  FINGER CROSSED.  If things work out (FINGERS CROSSED) we will be starting construction on the new (very very old) house at the beginning of August.  I'm horrified at the thought of what we're getting ourselves into.  But also EXTREMELY EXCITED. So, FINGERS CROSSED, PEOPLE.  JUST DO IT.

So, for now I'm trying to distract myself from the insanity by spending time with friends.  We celebrated the Fourth of July with two of my favorite ladies (and their families, and half a neighborhood of people).  Also, I had the honor of being asked to photograph a christening for our close friend.  I do love a baby. We're keeping busy this summer, but then that's kind of our style.

Oh man, living in a place that isn't yours (and isn't kid proofed to your heart's content) would be stressful!

Good thing it's summer and you can (assuming it's not crazy hot) spend a ton of time outdoors! Good luck with the house hunting/selling!
