Late, late last Sunday evening I received a text from my cousin Sarah (Kelly's mom), and it read, "April, my mom just died." Monday afternoon Josie and I were on a plane headed to Alaska. Because it's what you do. Okay, well really we first hit Salt Lake City, but after that, Alaska.
My cousin Shelli and Aunt Sally met us out there to surround Sarah and her family with love. It was a whirlwind six days, but I'm glad I went. And I hope Sarah is glad for it too. Because we kind of majorly invaded her life for the better part of a week. I didn't know Martha, but I know Sarah, and losing your mom just isn't something anyone should have to deal with alone. Not anyone, but especially not my Sarah.
It was a bad week filled with good memories.
