So it turns out there are unintended consequences to sending your child to half-day part-time preschool:
- He makes your morning a living hell by screaming for the two hours before leaving that he does not want to go to school.
- He embarrasses you by hysterically crying through the whole drop-off process and then dramatically sobbing on the teachers shoulder and refusing to kiss you good-bye when you leave.
- He pisses you off by recovering .3 seconds after you walk out the door.
- He stresses you out by failing to be highly visible on the webcam.
- He makes you crazy by refusing to eat lunch at school and then demanding the exact! same! meal! at home.
- He makes you anxious by falling asleep on the couch amidst your other screaming children who could possible and will definitely not let him sleep nearly long enough.
- He upsets his brother who has been desperately waiting for him to come home by being cranky and refusing to play.
- He hurts your feelings when he asks to go back to school on his off days.
- He hurts your head when he whines all. afternoon. long. on his off days because he didn't take a real nap the day before because he fell asleep on the couch and was totally woken up by those other loud children you have.
- He screws up your agenda because you refuse to take a tired whiny three year old on fun! outings! because taking a tired whiny three year old makes them not! fun! outings!
- He makes you feel like a total losey mcloserton failure when you unenroll him from preschool after less than two-weeks.
- He makes you (very) happy when he says he'd rather be home with Mom.

Haha. Oh my. It seems like this really want quite the experience for you guys.
He really is such a handsome little man though. :-)
****was quite the experience...
Sorry, didn't edit before I posted. /blush/
Poor mommy and poor little dude. He just wasn't ready and there is nothing wrong with that. Isaiah went part-time when he was 3.5, but it was at the school his brother went to the year before so he was comfortable. Before you know it he will be ready for VPK. Also I ADORE our preschool, when you decide to send him again someday, let me know if you want the info.
Definitely a Catch-22. You want them to be able to enjoy preschool both for their development and for your sanity. But when they say they'd rather be with you?? Awww! Just makes my heart melt!
Breaks my heart just reaing that. You sound exhusted!
Awww that's so sweet! But I am sure you would love for him to be in preschool too!
FINALLY! Cute pic and story ;) Love ya!
My son was the same way. It will get better I PROMISE. I didn't believe it could ever happen, but now he loves school.
What a beautiful little boy!
Pre-school isn't worth that.
It's supposed to be enjoyable for both of you. :)
I have only sent two of my kids to preschool and it's because they begged to go.
OMG... I agree, totally not worth it.
And congrats on surviving two weeks! Alex survived two DAYS before I said screw it - the (short!) nap he was taking at preschool was messing up his attitude and his regular nap on the off days (his preschool was only 2 days a week). We may try again when he's 4... We shall see!!
I am totally about the routine, and having that messed up (after it took me forever to get him in a routine) was just not happy for anybody. If momma ain't happy...
Brought tears to my eyes
Awww...sorry you had such a rough time. Grayson's first month was pretty rough on me when I started working again. It gets better with time and we do still have the occasional off day, but for the most part he loves school!
Friendly tip to help make drop off time a little easier, (I've found it's worked with kids at our center) give him an incentive. Start off with telling him if he does he good job getting ready and going into school then he'll get something special. You can either do something he likes after school or have a treasure box that he can pick out of. But he can only get that thing if he doesn't throw any fits. And once he gets into the habit he won't ask for a special thing or toy from the treasure box. It will just become a part of their day.
I hope you able to make getting ready for school and drop off time easier for you both. :P
this is the way a blog should be! thanks!
nice post. thanks.
