Stephen chose LegoLand for his 4th birthday escapade. Which thankfully coincided with a homeschooling field trip. I won't lie, it was hot and I was cranky. But he had a wonderful time and we were so lucky my parents joined us to take part in the crazy.
Birthdays are special. Incredibly super special. We stretched his out for days and days (as is our usual M.O.) - first a Lego Land adventure, then presents and cupcakes on his actually birthday, and later more presents and more cupcakes with his cousins. I'm really glad we're able to make birthdays awesome for our kids. It's not about spending money, because budget-wise we actually keep it very low key. It's about giving them our time and attention. I hope they remember. I hope they remember being showered with love. I hope they remember we're absolutely crazy about them.
Stephen continues to be high spirited and high energy. He's still totally addicted to huge bear hugs and giant sloppy kisses. He needs a back rub every night before bed. His love for family is enormous - so much so that when choosing a birthday gift, he picked an item that he could afford three of so his brothers would each have one to play with as well.
