It did cool off as the sun went down and I learned the hard way that we should've stocked ourselves with blankets before getting started because by the time we hustled and bustled to get everyone warm it was pitch black and we couldn't see to cook the rest of our dinner. A lot of whining ensued, and later vomiting. But I'm pretty sure the latter was unrelated. In good news, the kids seem to remember the campfire as epically awesome and not the itchy bitchfest it actually was.
