Brain Dump. Because You Were Wondering, Right?

Visiting Grandma and Grandpa Mimi

Visiting Gainesville is always a fun adventure.  This time Casey and Wesley went to the creek searching for shark and manta ray teeth, while Stephen, JJ and I dug in the sandbox and traipsed through the wilds of Grandma and Grandpa Mimi's magical botanical back yard. (Okay, the kids dug and traipsed  - Josie and I sat on a swing and enjoyed the breeze).  We also trekked down Devil's Millhopper, the largest sinkhole in the state, then visited an old fashioned park for good measure. It was a nice weekend and a much needed distraction.

My brother keeps me honest by sending reminders at regular intervals that I have not posted in a while.  I'm glad he does, because I love my little nook here in the vast world of wide webs.  But I'm still feeling overwhelmed and drowny, so I forget to do things like put up new pictures and tell you all what's going on in our house.

It's pretty safe to say at this point that my 'about me section' is wildly overdue for an update.  Besides the fact that my (now SIX MONTH OLD) daughter is a seven week ultrasound over there, it also says I am a stay-at-home mom who gave up her career to take care of the kids.  I'm still taking care of the kids, but I've also reintroduced myself to the world of working folk.  It's been a relatively slow progression over the past couple of years, which has culminated into a pretty significant amount of work.  A pretty significant amount of work that I am just not quite yet equipped to properly juggle.

I know it's only a matter of time before things sort themselves out.  I mean, the baby will eventually sleep through the night. (right?  RIGHT?!).  And the kindergarten (or not kindergarten) nonsense will (either) happen (or not happen).  And the house we've had a contract on since September (yes, SEPTEMBER) will either close for us or go to auction for someone else.  And the job Wesley has been maybe going to take will be taken (by him, or another engineer).

So, really.  Things aren't forever in limbo.  It only seems that way right now.  Which is difficult.  And makes me want to only check emails on my phone, so I don't have to face the reality of the seemingly insurmountable gobs of work hiding in the itty bitty little laptop hanging out on the corner of my kitchen table.

I am eternally thankful for the opportunities I've had and made throughout my life and career, and that I've been afforded the ability to work alongside my family and children.  I really am.   But getting to the point where things run smoothly is such a process.  I am good at stepping outside myself to gain perspective - but not as good at stepping back in and getting things done.  (Hey there, late phone bill!).  That being said, I've vacuumed my house on a regular schedule for four weeks now, which is MINDBLOWING.  I still wouldn't eat off the tile though.  My mopping schedule isn't going as well.

Wow, April! I always think limbo is one of the hardest stages to be in. Once all the decisions are made (even if some of them didn't turn out as we hoped), it is much easier to get a grip, move on, and be happy! But limbo is just hard. Hang in there!!

Thank you for commenting on my blog! Because I am really excited to dig around here at yours!!!

They DO sort themselves out. I remember being in the start up phase of the school when it felt like we'd do nothing with the rest of our lives but live in a cardboard box with our then fussy, new born baby. You definitely talked me down from a ledge. Limbo isn't forever! Also, you clearly have the most beautiful kids in the whole world so what's to REALLY worry about. ;O)
