If we're being honest, which, of course we are, let's agree that parenting is difficult. It's constant and relentless. But perhaps the part that took me most by surprise is how stifling it is. Once free to carry out our hearts desires on a whim, we are now chained to afternoon naps, three square meals and bedtimes before sundown.
The trappings of children are grand and all encompassing. There are no breaks. And so, we must adapt and refocus a bit to bring ourselves wholly into this new perspective. This new life.
I hope my children will embrace each moment. I hope they will travel far and wide while they can, and seek local adventure when they cannot. I hope they will continue to see the beauty in sunsets, impromptu picnics and jet planes. Even the ones we're not on.

I have ALWAYS wanted to do that! There used to be a spot where you could go park under the flightline to watch the planes come in. There was even a food truck there for people who were watching the planes. After 9/11 they blocked off the access road, so I thought all hopes of my watching the planes was gone.
Where did you picnic? I wanna go!
You have great HOPES for your boys and such lovely boys you have!
I love the pictures, and yes parenting is very hard, and limiting to some degree. As someone who is at another juncture of parenting, I can say it changes, but not easier. Those gorgeous boys, their wings will spread and they will fly to heights beyond their little boy dreams.
I heart the random dinos in the grass.
Heck yes. Gorgeous boys, gorgeous thoughts and oh how I love airports.
