Labor Day

Today we drove out to downtown Winter Park thinking we would enjoy an afternoon outdoors. Unfortunately, it was excruciatingly hot and muggy. Dad, Mom, Casey & Jonathan were all tired and cranky. We gave it our best shot and walked the length of Park Ave., but made a beeline for Oviedo as soon as we got back to the car.

On the way home I realized we hadn't done much in the way of lunch (it was 3:30pm) so we headed over to our favorite taco stand, Tijuana Flats. Sadly, it was closed for the holiday. I had a mini melt down in the car while Wes shuttled us over to the Chinese take-out place across the plaza. I went in and ordered from a cute little old Chinese couple who made the food on the spot in an open kitchen. It was really neat to watch (wish I had brought my camera in!) and it smelled delightful. Best of all, we got a TON of food for less than $20.

We took the grub home and pulled up the highchairs to the dinner table where we sat together and had a really nice family meal. All in all it was a good conclusion to an otherwise crummy afternoon.
