Happy Fifth Birthday, Casey!

Birthday Cheetah

Casey wanted everyone to see that he picked out a cheetah for his birthday. So, there. His cheetah.

I don't know why fifth birthdays are different than other birthdays. But they are, and I've been sad about it all day. The postpartum hormones probably aren't helping matters, but I believe I'd be a little melancholy regardless of my pregnancy status.

Five is a paradox. Loves roller coasters and zip lines, also needs his blankie and night light. So much the big kid, but also still quite small and new. We're entering unfamiliar territory of school and friends and cautious independence.

I'm not sure I am ready, but I suspect he'll do just fine.

Happy Birthday, Casey.

We love you.

So. Very. Much.

Happy Birthday Casey

Aww, hope he had a great birthday! Those postpartum hormones are pretty bad. A week after my daughter was born my husband gave me a sweet valentine card, not especially mushy, but I cried and cried. He was baffled. Fun stuff those hormones! I think five will be a big deal for me too. I already feel like my little girl is so big, even though she'll be turning four in February. The cute little "baby" phrases are long gone. She sounds almost like a little adult. I'm not ready!!
